Myths about accessible housing busted

There are a number of myths associated with accessible housing that create barriers to finding the right home for people with disability.

The Housing Hub has created a Mythbusters series to challenge these assumptions so people know what is actually possible.

Myth 1: Specialist disability accommodation (SDA) is only for people who have physical disability.

Myth 2: A person eligible for SDA cannot live with family or a partner who does not have SDA funding.

Myth 3: You must have supported independent living funding (SIL) to live in SDA.

Myth 4: Being approved for SDA funding will include Assistive Technology (AT).

Myth 5: You cannot be funded for SDA if you already live in a home that you own.
